WP 4 – Participative Process

All the partners are firstly involved in an analysis of UPA policy; then, they meet up and exchange their best practices, in order to reach together the definitions of the guidelines for the pilot projects and of the UPA governance models.


A4.1. In-depth analysis of UPA policy along with legal and institutional frameworks connected with current activities in the Mediterranean Basin;

A4.2 Participatory mechanisms involving NGOs in Jordan, Tunisia, Italy and Spain, to help communities and citizens define new UPA policies and gain greater capacities
for action and decision-making related to UPA governance and management;

A4.3 Formulation of a state-of-the-art definition of horticultural farming in UPA activities
in the partner areas;

A4.4 Establishment of Guidelines for Pilot Projects in Mahdia, Al-Balga, Rome, BMA with involvement of the UPA governance committees;

A4.5 Preliminary development and definition of UPA governance best practice models for Al-Balga and Mahdia patterned after the Rome/BMA selected models.


Deliverable 4.1: Policy analysis, state-of-the-art document and program goals + database on UPA activities;

Deliverable 4.2: Four joint UPA governance committees; local surveys on participative process;

Deliverable 4.3: One report on the state–of-the-art definition regarding UPA in partner

Deliverable 4.4: Rome, Mahdia, Al-Balga and BMA UPA pilot project guidelines;

Deliverable 4.5: Governance models for Mahdia, Al-Balga, Rome and BMA (a document
that summarizes the four governance models proposed);

Indicator: Four pilot projects designed to be implemented and tested (throughout the project).
